Scientific Forum on the Circular Economy and Carbon Credits: Approaches to Developing Low-Emission Production Models in Thanh Hoa Province 02/10/2026 Nghi Nguyen On September 30, 2026, the Thanh Hoa Union of Science and Technology Associations, in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology, the Thanh Hoa Agricultural Institute, Hong Duc University, and other relevant organizations, organized a scientific forum on the circular economy and carbon credits, focusing on approaches to developing low-emission production models. The forum brought together representatives from provincial departments and agencies, the Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, the Provincial Party Committee, scientists from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, research centers, institutes, universities, Ben En National Park, nature reserves, and protection forest management boards across the province, as well as member associations of the Thanh Hoa Union of Science and Technology Associations. CORENACCA participated in the forum alongside representatives of the Thang Loc Commune authorities and ten representative households involved in the project “Strengthening Disaster and Climate Change Resilience of Communities in the Upper Watershed Area of the Former Thuong Xuan District, Thanh Hoa Province,” funded by Bread for the World -BftW. At the forum, CORENACCA delivered two presentations entitled “Forest Potential and Forest Carbon Credits in Thanh Hoa Province” and “Community-Based Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation in the BftW Project Communes of Thang Loc and Luan Thanh, Thanh Hoa Province.” The presentation on forest potential highlighted the opportunities for developing forest carbon projects in Thanh Hoa Province in the near future, particularly in light of the establishment of a legal framework supporting their implementation. This includes Government Decree No. 180/2026/ND-CP, dated May 21, 2026, on forest carbon sequestration and storage services, which officially came into effect on July 15, 2026, and Government Decree No. 29/2026/ND-CP, dated January 19, 2026, regulating the organization and operation of Vietnam’s carbon exchange. These legal frameworks have created favorable conditions for the development and implementation of forest carbon projects in the coming years. Representatives from provincial departments, organizations, protection forest management boards, Hong Duc University, and the Thanh Hoa Agricultural Institute also delivered presentations on the circular economy and emission reduction in agricultural production. It is hoped that this scientific forum will foster stronger collaboration and partnerships among government agencies, scientific institutions, and other organizations, facilitating the practical and effective application of scientific knowledge to sustainable development.
