The livelihoods of the people here are mainly based on sedge cultivation, fishing, aquaculture and other services. With the trees of Trang ( Candelia), Ban ( Sonneteria)… have formed here, there is a very rich and diverse forest ecosystem, every year the blooming season provides an abundant amount of food for the insects that take the pistil. From the advantages of natural conditions, the people here have also been pioneers in testing the beekeeping model along the mangroves, initially giving a much more effective result than other industries. However, because they are doing it in a spontaneous, unscrupulous way, it leads to the amount of honey as well as the development of the bee colony not really achieving high efficiency By the end of 2021, with the support of the Bread for the World World through CORENACCA, the project has implemented with the support of 200 boxes of bee seed for 100 households in 3 project communes. After more than 10 months of implementation with the application of field training methods (FFS) according to the bee keeping development, households have gained more knowledge and skills in the care, harvesting and multiplication of Ong. herd. Up to now, 100% of bee-keeping households have earned income from selling honey and will continue to multiply in the near future. Mr. Tran Cong Lich, Nga Thuy commune shared, “My family has 3 boxes of Bees, but the effect is not high due to limited knowledge and skills to take care of bees. After the project supported 2 boxes of bees, my family participated in technical training according to the stages of development of bees, From 5/2022 up to now, the family has harvested 17kg of honey and is carrying out transplanting queen bee to multiply the flock in the near future” Beekeeping for honey not only makes good use of available food sources from flowers of mangrove trees, creates jobs, increases income… for households.
