Community Based Mangrove nursery garden in Nga Thuy Commune, Nga Son District, Thanh Hoa Province 28/05/2022 Nghi Nguyen In order to implement the Project “Community-based Mangrove Management to Enhance Resilience to Climate Change Risks in Thanh Hoa Province, Vietnam” funded by Bread for the World – BftW, the coastal communities have set up a mangrove nursery garden in Nga Thuy Commune, Nga Son District, Thanh Hoa Province. According to the design of a seedling nursery in 2 years of 25,000 trees, so far the Nursery Group in 2 communes of Da Loc and Nga Thuy have made 19,000 seedlings of Trang (Candelia) for multi-layered planting, where the trees have been planted Ban Chua (Sonneteria) in 3 project communes including Da Loc, Hau Loc District and Nga Thuy and Nga Tan, Nga Son District. On May 26, 2022, leaders of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Thanh Hoa province ( TUSTA) visited and checked the results of project activities such as nursery model and making microbiological fertilizer for sedge plants in Nga Thuy commune, Nga Son District. The mission highly appreciated the efforts of the local communities in Da Loc and Nga Thuy communes who have actively participated in BftW project activities. The Mangrove nursery group will be able to improve not only technical issues but also financial management skills to be able to build a business development to serve Government Projects and NGOs when there is a need later. The efforts of the local community will contribute to the success of the Project, contributing to green action to mitigate climate change for Vietnam and globally.
