Potential of mangrove ecotourism in Thanh Hoa and Ninh Binh provinces

The coastal mangrove forests of Kim Son district (Ninh Binh province) and Nga Son, Hau Loc Districts (Thanh Hoa province) are not only a green belt to protect sea dykes and residential areas, farming areas, etc. aquaculture and agriculture but also the potential of coastal ecotourism.

About 30 km from Ninh Binh city to the mangrove forest of Kim Son district, visitors can see the green mangroves on the horizon, to catch the fresh wind from the sea and visitors will visit Hon Noi island ( go through sea dike and bridge about 6 km)- Hon Noi has been recognized as a world biosphere reserve in 2014. Where there are many precious bird species and biodiversity, visitors can walk on the wild fine sand. swimming and bathing to soothe the sultry summer days and relax the soul in the waves.

From Thanh Hoa city to Hau Loc and Nga Son Districts about 45 – 50 km, visitors will see the green mangrove forest of Da Loc, Hai Loc Communes (Hau Loc District) and Nga Thuy, Nga Tan Communes ( Nga Son district). In the far away, Hon Ne island has gone into poetry. “Isn’t it about to come back. Are there many pompano  and mackerel. Do you miss each other, Hanh Cat, Hanh Cu?” (To Huu’s poem Mother Tom). Visitors will not only see the forest and the island of Ne, but also watch the harbor full of boats, the flags fluttering in the sea breeze, and watch the sun in the mornings or sunsets when the sun descends the mountain far away.

Thanh Hoa and Ninh Binh will be a series of mangrove ecotourism when the infrastructure is expanded with more coastal routes. The route connecting the northern coastal provinces with the central region from Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An Provinces… it will promote tourism and the economy of this place to develop more and more strongly and sustainable.
