Raising ducks in the mangroves in Dong Hai Village, Da Loc Commune, Hau Loc District, Thanh Hoa Province 05/11/2018 admin We often hear duck raising in the rice field, especially after harvesting rice or duck in ponds. Coming to Dong Hai village, Da Loc commune, Hau Loc district, Thanh Hoa province, where mangrove forests of CARE International in Vietnam were planted in 2007, we see thousands of ducks raising in the mangroves. Each time the tide comes down, thousands of ducks go to the forest to eat shrimps, fishes, snails or hard clam.Models of duck raising under mangroves are strongly developed in the coastal villages of Da Loc Commune in Dong Hai and Dong Tan Villages. Under the Mangroves of many marine food is a nutritious food for ducks. Duck eggs are famous for eating ducks in the wild species in the mangroves. Mangroves not only protect sea dyke in the storm surge during the rainy and storm season but also provide fllowers for bee-keeping for honey and raising ducks under the forest. These are sustainable livelihood models for local people. It is expected that this model should be widely replicated for coastal areas with mangrove forests.
