The visit of Bread for the World – BftW to the Project site in Thanh Hoa Province

On July 19 and 20, 2022, the delegation of Bread for the World – BftW Ms. Eva – Maria – Jongen – Director and Ms. Pham Thi Phuong Lan – Deputy Director of the Vietnam – Laos Regional Office of the BftW organization visited the project “Community-based mangrove management to enhance resilience to climate change risks in Thanh Hoa province, Vietnam”.

The BftW delegation met and worked with the Union of Scientific Associations of Thanh Hoa Province – TUSA, with CORENACCA to listen to the report on the project’s results and discuss, propose recomendations for the next time. The delegation met with the Project Management Boards of 2 communes Da Loc, Hau Loc and Nga Thuy districts, Nga Son district to hear feedback on the implementation of the Project in the area of 2 communes and propose to solve difficulties. problems to implement the Project better and more effectively in the future.

The delegation has a field trip to visit livelihood models such as beekeeping for honey associated with mangrove protection, sea duck raising, especially the model of microbial fertilizer production and sedge cultivation using micro-organisms to minimize the use of microorganisms. chemicals and inorganic fertilizers for sedge. Visiting the control model of traditional sedge cultivation and cultivating by new methods using micro-fertilizers gave high yield and no pests. The delegation also visited a mangrove nursery with 20,000 seedlings that will serve for afforestation in 2023 and 2024.

The delegation highly appreciated the achievements of the project despite its short duration (from October 1, 2021 to July 2022) despite being interrupted by the Covid 19 pandemic.

Livelihood groups, Da Loc and Nga Thuy Commune PMUs, CORENACCA and TUSTA have made proposals for Project activities in the coming time and in the next phase for the Project to develop more effectively and sustainably.
